Fluffy Fluffy, a brand that has gone viral for its Japanese soufflé pancakes, has opened its first Welsh venue. There were huge queues outside the door on opening day, Saturday, October 19.
The café, which sells delicious, giant pancakes with lots of different toppings is now open on Cardiff’s Queen Street and is already proving very popular. The queues stretched down Queen Street with many people eager to try the viral pancakes.
You can also find Fluffy Fluffy on Park Street, Bristol. From classic favourites like Nutella and fresh fruit to wilder flavours such as matcha tiramisu and pistachio, the menu has many flavours and toppings to suit everyone. Each pancake is hand-made to order with fresh ingredients and the stacks can be topped with a selection of fruits, creams, syrups and house sauces.
As well as the souffle pancakes, Fluffy Fluffy is also known for their ‘croffles’, which are crispy on the outside and fluffy inside with each bite blending buttery, flaky layers with caramelised edges. If sweet treats are not for you, there are savoury croffles available, including a creamy avocado option, reports Wales Online.
Inside Fluffy Fluffy’s first Welsh store it is bright yellow, with a mixture of booth and table seating. Neon signs depicting the pancakes decorate the walls and there is cool ball lighting hanging from the ceiling.
The café has a relaxed atmosphere and feels spacious and welcoming. On its opening day, Fluffy Fluffy offered a 50 per cent discount on all their pancakes, and a Wales Online reporter was fortunate enough to sample the delicious pancakes early.
The unique dessert did not disappoint when the reporter tried it. The Nutella strawberry pancake arrived, and it was as wobbly and fluffy as they had imagined.
The Nutella was served in a small jug alongside the strawberries, while the pancake was topped with cream and a Ferrero Rocher. True to its name, the pancake from Fluffy Fluffy lived up to expectations. It was warm, light, and airy, with no hint of sogginess. They were also pleasantly surprised that the pancake wasn’t overly sweet.
So, if you’re not a fan of overly sweet desserts but are willing to try a dessert café, then Fluffy Fluffy might be just the place for you.
