A Bristol music shop is closing its doors today (Saturday, October 26). Opus 13, described as ‘Bristol’s notable music shop’, is located on Lower Park Row in Clifton and has been providing people in the area with music products for more than a decade.

A huge 25 per cent off sale has been ongoing since the announcement of its closure was made, and a list of future stockists for items previously sold by Opus 13 – like printed music and CDs – has been shared via this link, so fans of the popular store won’t be left without.

It’s owner, Ruth, shared a message to the website and social media platforms some weeks ago to say: “After 11 years in business, I have decided that the time has come to close Opus 13. It’s been a hard decision to make but unfortunately it no longer makes financial sense to continue, so it’s time to change tempo and march to the beat of a different drum.

“Opus 13 will remain trading until Saturday 26th October and will greatly appreciate your support until then. A grand finale sale with 25% off all stock in the shop will start on October 1st (excluding customer orders).

“I would like to thank all our customers and suppliers who have been instrumental in the success of the business over the past 11 years. Ruth.”

The shop will be open until 6pm today, with the promise of cake. Ruth added: “If you would like to come in and play your instrument to fill the shop with music on Saturday afternoon, that would be wonderful.”

One X user wrote: “It’s the final day of @Opus13Music in Bristol today. My friend Ruth has run this brilliant shop for 11 years. She has provided so much classical music, CDs, knowledge and Kazoos to the community. It will be missed.”
