While he’s highly unlikely to even appear in a World Series game this year, one player should already have a spot cleared on the mantle for his title bauble.
It doesn’t matter if it’s the Los Angeles Dodgers or New York Yankees that come out on top of the seven-game championship series which starts on Friday night, Taylor Trammell already is slated to receive a prize.
The outfielder — who actually started the 2024 season with the Seattle Mariners — appeared in five games with both the Dodgers and Yankees this season, which typically is the threshold for being awarded a championship ring.

While it’s not quite Danny Jansen playing for two different teams in the same game, Trammell’s situation is a fairly rare one.
Trammell was selected off waivers by the Dodgers on April 2 from the Mariners, starting his journey.
However, he struggled with the superstar-laden Dodgers, going hitless in his six at-bat with three strikeouts over the five games he played.
After being designated for assignment, he was picked up on April 18 by the Yankees.
He appeared in five games for the Bronx Bombers, mainly as a defensive replacement. He did manage a hit and walk in his two plate appearances, scoring on both occasions.

Taylor was later demoted and finished the season with the Yankees’ triple-A affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He remains a part of the team’s 40-man roster.
In triple-A this year, he hit .256 across 106 games for the Yankees farm club.
Before this season, Trammell spent the 2021-23 with the Mariners, playing in 116 games. He posted a .168/.270/.368 slash line over 304 at-bats, scoring 45 runs and driving in 39. He initially was drafted 35th overall by the Cincinnati Reds in 2016 and made Baseball America’s top 100 list three years in a row from 2018 to 2020.
Trammell was part of the 2019 trade that sent Trevor Bauer to the Reds and Yasiel Puig to Cleveland before being dealt again a year later to the Mariners. That trade also brought Ty France and Andrés Muñoz to Seattle.
