Queen Camilla left a Pride of Britain winners in tear during a surprising appearance.
Diana Parkes and Hetti Barkworth-Nanton, co-founders of a foundation to support children affected by domestic violence, were awarded the Pride of Britain award by the Queen.
Hetti, 88, was brought to tears as she received the award alongside her fellow campaigner.
The duo, appointed CBE in the New Year Honours List, collected their Pride of Britain Special Recognition Award during the official ceremony televised on ITV1 yesterday evening.

The programme showed them meeting the Queen in a surprise after the Pride of Britain team convinced the charity founders that they had been invited to film a documentary.
The campaigners were brought together after Diana’s daughter was killed by her estranged husband in 2010, while Diana’s grandchildren hid in the playroom.
Holding back her tears, Diana told the Queen, “Jo at least brought Hetti and I together,” as she thanked her for the honour.
The meeting was at Clarence House earlier this month and will be featured in a documentary about Camilla, Her Majesty The Queen: Behind Closed Doors, which will be aired on ITV on November 11.
The 77-year-old, married to King Charles, said: “I’m afraid we did slightly double-cross you by bringing you here.”

Camilla added: “Nobody deserves it more than you two,” as she congratulated the pair for “all you’ve done for violence against women”.

Diana revealed she previously met the royal at a SaveLives meeting.
The Queen handed the two women an envelope with a letter: “Diana and Hetti, you have won a Pride of Britain Award.”
The 88-year-old dedicated the award to her daughter Joanna and said: “It’s really Jo who should be getting the Pride of Britain; in fact, everything is for Jo.”
