Mel Gibson has thrown his support behind Donald Trump by giving a damning assessment of Kamala Harris’ tenure as vice president.

As she runs to become America’s 47th president, Harris has assembled a roster of celebrity endorsements, with notable names like Bruce Springsteen, Eminem, Julia Roberts, Jon Bon Jovi, George Clooney, Howard Stern and Spike Lee in her corner.

But when TMZ caught up with the 68-year-old Lethal Weapon star at Los Angeles International Airport on Thursday, the trucker hat-wearing Gibson was blunt in his response when asked who he was voting for.

“I don’t think it’s going to surprise anyone who I vote for,” Gibson said.

“I’m gonna guess Trump. Is that a bad guess?” the cameraman replied, as he trailed behind the Oscar winner.

“I think that’s a pretty good guess,” Gibson answered. “I know what it’ll be like if we let her in. And that ain’t good. Miserable track record. No policies to speak of. She’s got the IQ of a fence post.”

Gibson’s comment echoes digs former President Trump has made against his Democratic rival as the presidential election race heads into its final weeks.

“This woman is crazy,” the former president said this week at an event in the Atlanta suburb of Duluth, hosted by Turning Point USA, The Guardian reported. He said voters should tell Harris: “You’re the worst ever. There’s never been anybody like you. You can’t put two sentences together. The world is laughing at us because of you.”

He also said that in her recent interview with CBS, she “gave an answer that was from a loony bin,” later adding: “She’s not a smart person. She’s a low IQ individual.”

After her CNN town hall this week, Trump referred to Harris as “an empty vessel” and swiped, “she can’t put two sentences together.”

“She’s beautifully pushed around by a very smart, very powerful, very liberal, viciously liberal but very, very smart, powerful party called the Democrats,” Trump said.

Earlier this month, Trump ramped up his attacks against Harris by declaring that former President Barack Obama isn’t going to vote for her.

“Obama admits a total lack of enthusiasm for Kamala, especially with Black Men. I think Obama will be voting for me because he doesn’t like the fact that Kamala is an extremely Low IQ Person!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

Trump’s campaign communications director Steven Cheung backed the former president’s comments and told Newsweek, “Obama can’t stand Low IQ Kamala Harris, so he’ll be voting for President Trump in 2024!”

Harris has had comebacks of her own, referring to Trump as “increasingly unhinged and unstable” at her rallies. During a CNN town hall Wednesday night she also called Trump a “fascist.”

At a Georgia event Wednesday, Harris brought out Springsteen, who accused Trump of “running to be an American tyrant,” adding that the Republican nominee did not understand “this country, its history or what it means to be deeply American.”

Meanwhile, former NASCAR star Danica Patrick told Fox News host Jesse Watters Monday that she would be voting for Trump after never participating in an election before.

“It feels like voting for Donald Trump is like the vote of reason. It’s like the rational, reasonable choice,” Patrick told Watters.

She also made a plea to people unhappy with Trump’s sometimes abrasive demeanour.

“There is a difference definitely between the way that men and women are voting, and I think maybe one of the reasons why women are having a harder time with the vote is just his personality,” she said.

“That’s the most common answer you hear from people. ‘I just can’t vote for him.’ I don’t think that’s a good enough reason. You don’t have to go to dinner with him. You just have to like the country that you live in.”

Patrick also said Trump’s recent stop at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania showed how likeable the former host of television’s The Apprentice really is.

“I think that he has a great sense of humour,” she said. “I think that he is a man amongst the people. I feel like when you wrap that up with the humility that he has, the sense of humour that he has, the off-the-cuff confidence that he has. His ability to go so unscripted and be in so many scenarios where he has to essentially be himself, it’s pretty much all of them. That’s not just something you see from the other side, which I think is one of the most endearing and important qualities about him is that he is just being him.”

Patrick predicted that if Trump is reelected as America’s commander-in-chief, the country will reach new heights.

“I feel like most of all, though, what this country could be if he gets into office, with all the amazing, brilliant people who are supporting him, I feel like it can not only make America great again, but make America greater than it’s ever been,” she said.
