Lidl GB is set to dramatically expand its plant-based product range in response to “soaring” demand from customers.

The supermarket has experienced double-digit growth in the category over the past year, prompting a more than tripling of its plant-based offerings. This will include the exciting own-label range, Vemondo Plant!.


The newly expanded range will appear in selected stores as early as this month, with a national rollout expected by January 2025.

At the heart of this expansion is the introduction of Lidl’s new own-label range, Vemondo Plant!, featuring 28 new plant-based items.

The new Vemondo Plant! range is set to offer a diverse selection of plant-based products. Shoppers can find multiple varieties of tofu starting from £1.75 and burgers from £1.89.

Other meat alternatives include plant-based sausages (£1.89), mince (£2.49), and nuggets (£1.99). The range also features dairy-free and vegan options such as yoghurts and cheese.

Lidl shoppers can also snap up a selection of deli-style products and ready meals.

With its latest initiative, the supermarket aims for plant-based protein sales to account for 25 per cent of its total protein sales by 2030, which Lidl GB described as an “industry-leading target”.

This target aligns with the EAT Lancet Planetary Health Diet 2050 goals, supporting a shift towards more sustainable food consumption.

Lidl GB is also committed to doubling the proportion of sales from plant-based dairy alternatives within the same timeframe.

These new targets will feed into Lidl’s commitment to achieving Net-Zero by 2050, with the supermarket recently revealing new ambitious climate goals by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Chief commercial officer at Lidl GB, Richard Bourns, commented on the supermarket’s plans to expand its plant-based offerings and in turn, improve its impact on the climate.
