Five men have been arrested after gardai discovered a firearm, ammunition and drugs at premises in Dublin.

During the search, under Operation Tara, of the residential premises in Saggart, gardai from the District Drugs Unit in Ballyfermot recovered a firearm, rounds of ammunition and a small quantity of suspected cannabis and diazepam.

All seized items are subject to forensic and ballistic analysis.

Five men – aged in their teens, 20s and 40s – were arrested on Thursday and are currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 at Garda Stations in west Dublin.

The scene is currently being preserved for technical examination.

Gardai said that investigations are ongoing.
