An early morning house fire in Toronto’s west end has claimed the life of a baby.

Toronto Police say emergency crews including police, Toronto Fire and paramedics were called just after 1 a.m. Friday to a two-alarm house fire in the Trethewey Dr. and Eglinton Ave. W. area.

In a post on X, police said “one female and a baby (were) transported to hospital via emergency run.”

The infant did not survive and the female has “serious injuries.”

Cops said the investigation is ongoing. There was no immediate word on the cause of the blaze.
