Police closed down a stretch of a rural road southeast of London for hours after a big rig slammed into a house Wednesday morning.

A transport truck crashed into an abandoned home near Bradley Avenue at Westchester Bourne, Ontario Provincial Police said. Nobody was inside the home at the time.

The driver of the big rig suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said.

The truck appeared to be travelling east on Bradley Avenue and there were skid marks on the road leading up the crash scene. Part of the two-storey home collapsed from the impact and the truck’s blue cabin was badly damaged.

Investigators closed a section of Bradley Avenue at Westchester Bourne for several hours and announced just before 1:30 p.m. that the intersection had been reopened.
