King Charles announced he is looking for a new pilot to provide a helicopter service to Royal Family members undertaking official engagements across the UK.
The role is part of The King’s Helicopter Flight and is paid an annual salary.
Royal Correspondent Richard Eden quipped that this role could be “the perfect way” for the Duke of York to re-enter royal life after stepping back from public duties five years ago.
In a post on Twitter, formerly known as X, he wrote: “Could Prince Andrew fly back into the royal fold?”

The position advertised on the Royal Household Jobs board states: “As an experienced multi-engine helicopter commander, you will act as either Pilot in Command or Co-Pilot.
“You’ll be responsible for the planning and safe execution of flights and duties in accordance with TKHF Operations Manual.”
Prince Andrew was a helicopter pilot and warship captain in the Royal Navy during the Falklands War aboard HMS Invincible.
One commenter on the post suggested that this role could end the ongoing feud with King Charles regarding Royal Lodge.

The advert also specifies the need for “extensive flying experience in multi-engine helicopters” and for applicants to exhibit “high levels of initiative, pro-activity, and problem-solving capability”.
It also offers a “generous benefits package”, an “excellent” pension scheme and complimentary lunches.
One commenter on the post suggested that this role could end the ongoing feud with King Charles regarding Royal Lodge, where the Duke and Duchess of York currently live.
The monarch is understood to want Prince Andrew to downsize and save costs by moving to the smaller Frogmore Cottage, which was once occupied by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Prince Andrew, 64, got his pilot’s licence in 1981, a year before he served as a Royal Navy helicopter pilot during the Falklands War.
The conflict between Argentina and the UK claimed a total of 907 lives, 255 of them being British.
