This was definitely not a snake on a plane.

A passenger on a flight from Dallas to Los Angeles recently spotted what is believed to be a rat in the aircraft’s ceiling lighting.

The short clip, reposted by the Dallas Texas TV’s Instagram account on Saturday of a video shot by @chuck_hustle817, shows the unknown rodent’s feet silhouetted as it scampers above an overhead bin.

WARNING: COARSE LANGUAGE

One person can be heard exclaiming that a “super rat” is aboard the flight as the camera zooms in to capture the animal.

“You’re flying Chuck E Cheese Airlines,” one person joked in the comments, while another chimed, “[Ratatouille] switched careers I see.”

However, several people warned that little critters on planes could pose a hazard to avionics wiring.

“Mice in airplanes is extremely dangerous because they chew wires,” one person commented. “If you ever see that, tell the flight crew immediately.”

“That’s dangerous on an aircraft,” warned another. “Everything from wiring to hydraulic hoses can be chewed on. That rat could cripple the plane.”

The discovery of a mouse, rat or other rodents on an aircraft would require a thorough check to ensure that there is no infestation. A top to bottom cleaning would also be required as pests can contaminate the plane with urine and feces, which contain various bacteria and viruses.

Aviation A2Z reports that the interior of the plane appears to be a narrowbody aircraft with a 3-3 seat configuration.

According to the site, the flight schedule suggests the aircraft is owned by Spirit Airlines as it offers three daily flights between Dallas and Los Angeles.
