Signage for a new fish bar has appeared on Mina Road in St Werburghs, with its official opening thought to be sometime this week. According to the official website and social media pages, Fisk & Frite is soon to be a fish bar in Bristol “serving a range of high quality, sustainable fish and a unique selection of sides”.

On its Instagram page, the local business adds: “We are excited about forming partnerships with companies dedicated to environmental conservation, focusing on both our planet and oceans. We have suppliers bringing the best of the local catch each day, and we pride ourselves on sourcing the freshest fish and seafood.

“We look forward to working with like minded charities and suppliers to help make the world a better place. Our overall goal is to enhance the quality of life in Bristol by supporting our locals and collaborating with other businesses, schools, and charities.”

On October 11 an update to Fisk & Frite’s Instagram page included some images of dishes on the menu, alongside a caption which read: “A little sneak peek at what’s to come… Yesterday we had a little tasting and photoshoot day with our team. The excitement is building as we get closer to the opening of our new fish bar, Fisk & Frite.

“In addition to the classics, we will offer a range of premium seafood options, including mussels, prawns, squid, sea bass and sea bream. Our fish will then be complemented by a range of unique sides.

“We want you to be able to join for the classics but also have lighter, unique choices available for a more premium fish-and-chip experience. We are excited to share more with you as we approach our opening… Stay tuned for more updates this week!”

Having already taken on some private bookings, fans were quick to share their thoughts – one dubbed it the “best fish n chips” they’d ever had, while a second said: “Very, very delicious cod and chips for my supper last night and they threw in some mushy peas – not the usual marrowfat ones either.”

In the comments section below, the team confirmed to locals that an official opening date would be revealed soon, however it was hoped to be in two weeks’ time, which would hopefully mean the new fish bar would be open around October 25.

Outside, the building has been painted blue, with a stunning mural of an octopus and the bold branding on the window. Locals say they have been “eagerly anticipating” the opening, with one writing: “We’ve been having a nose through the window and it looks amazing! Well done guys.”

You can find Fisk & Frite at 78 Mina Road, St Werburghs.
