James Blunt has reignited his long-standing feud with Noel Gallagher, branding the Oasis star “two-faced” over comments made about his music. The You’re Beautiful singer revealed he recently bumped into Gallagher and recalled a past incident that sparked their 18-year-old spat.

Blunt, 50, claimed that Gallagher, 57, had previously stated he was selling his Ibiza home because he “couldn’t handle” Blunt writing his “s*** songs” nearby.

The encounter has brought their musical rivalry back into the spotlight, with Blunt accusing Gallagher of being pleasant in person but critical in interviews.

The feud between Blunt and Gallagher dates back to 2006 when Blunt purchased a house in Ibiza, Spain, near Gallagher’s holiday home. At the time, Gallagher joked he would sell his property to avoid listening to Blunt’s “terrible” music.

Gallagher followed through on his statement, putting his Ibiza house on the market for around £5.5 million in 2008.

In a 2013 Q&A, Gallagher confirmed his reason for selling, stating: “[James] didn’t (upset me). He just moved there. I can’t have that.”

This incident set the stage for nearly two decades of tension between the two musicians. Blunt shared his thoughts on Gallagher’s behaviour during a podcast interview on How to Fail with Elizabeth Day.

“Whenever I see him, he’s really sweet to my face. I think everyone’s sweet to each other’s faces,” Blunt said. “It’s just with the courage of a microphone and a journalist and trying to show off a little, they’ll do something different.”

The Goodbye My Lover hitmaker suggested that Gallagher’s public criticisms were at odds with his friendly demeanour in person.

Despite the apparent tension, the two singers were recently photographed together on holiday, with Blunt jokingly captioning the image: “IT’S ON – The reunion the world has been waiting for…”

Blunt claimed to have had the last laugh in the property dispute. According to the singer, house prices in Ibiza increased after Gallagher left the area.

“House prices subsequently went up after he’s left,” Blunt stated on the podcast. The claim, however, remains unverified and could be seen as a playful jab at Gallagher.

Amidst the renewed attention on their feud, both Blunt and Gallagher have experienced recent career milestones. Blunt’s debut album re-entered the UK charts on its 20th anniversary, securing seventh place. This success came after a public vote narrowly avoided renaming him Blunty McBluntface.

Meanwhile, Oasis has announced a highly anticipated reunion tour which will see the brothers performs for adoring fans across the globe next year.

Gallagher has remained relatively quiet outside of Oasis-related news, while his brother Liam, 52, continues to keep fans engaged with frequent posts on social media platform X.

These developments highlight the ongoing relevance of both artists in the British music scene, despite their long-standing rivalry.
