York Regional Police have charged four people and recovered half a million dollars of property stolen from golf courses in York and surrounding regions.
In August, police started an investigation into thefts from golf courses in York, Durham and Waterloo Regions as well as Simcoe County.
Four suspects were identified in the thefts and break and enters totalling more than $1 million.
On Oct.16, seven search warrants were executed at residences and storage lockers in East Gwillimbury and the Town of Georgina.
The stolen property recovered includes 18 golf carts worth almost $200,000, golf clubs valued over $100,000, rare Pokemon and Magic the Gathering trading cards worth $100,000, and $20,000 worth of DeWalt construction tools.
Police also seized more than two kilograms of cannabis, 86 grams of psilocybin, 28 grams of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and Canadian currency.
Investigators say one of the accused, Andrew Skibinsky, 36, of Keswick, has a lifetime weapons ban associated to previous unrelated charges.
Also facing charges are Damien Russell, 41, and William Johnston, 48 of Keswick, and Austin Parnell, 19, of Vaughan.
