Two friends paid £27 to go to Italy for just 15 hours – for a spa day and to drink Aperol spritz. Chloe Greenwood, 31, and her best pal, Senna Gligui, 31, forked out £136.50 overall each – on food, drinks, public transport and a day at the QC Termemilano spa in Milan.

They said the trip cost “less than a night out in Liverpool” and the pair had the “most gorgeous, girly day out”. Chloe, a children’s entertainer, from Liverpool, said: “This was cheaper than going on a night out – and we had the most amazing time. You couldn’t experience anything like it at home – lots of little things made the day out perfect.

“We had lovely weather – we sunbathed, relaxed at the spa, ate and drank Aperol spritz. All we packed was a bikini, our passports and a book each.”

On October 10, Chloe and Senna set off on their flight from Liverpool John Lennon Airport at 4am. They arrived an hour-and-a-half later at Milan Malpensa Airport and took a shuttle bus to the city centre – costing £4.16 each.

“We took a bus, and had some breakfast,” Chloe said. “It was quite cheap to eat – around £12 each – and proper continental. We had croissants, the most gorgeous orange juice, and a cappuccino each.”

Senna, a hairdresser, said: “We were lucky the weather was nice – we sat outside on the most beautiful, cobbled streets. There was a church right by us, which we did visit.”

Chloe and Senna then hopped on the tube to QC Termemilano – costing just £1.67 each to tap on-and-off. The majority of their day was spent exploring every room in the spa – which set them back £49.98 each. They sunbathed on the terrace, relaxed in the saunas, grabbed drinks and sat in the “storm room” – a section with “rain” pouring down from the ceiling.

“We paid for a five-hour session,” Chloe said. “But we spent two-and-a-half hours there – to be honest, that’s all we needed. We read our books in the tranquility rooms, which had beds in it and bird sounds playing.”

Just before heading home, the pair spent £41.69 each on dinner and drinks. They ate spaghetti, tagliatelle and pizza – washed down with Aperol spritz and glasses of limoncello.

Senna said: “For a whole day of eating snacks, meals and drinks – you could go out in Liverpool for the same price. We spent £27 on flights out to Milan for the day – you’d pay the same for a taxi back to your house after a night out.”

The pair caught the 8.30pm flight to Manchester Airport – and arrived at 10pm.
