Former Beautiful South singer Paul Heaton has announced tour dates in both Belfast and Dublin for next year.

The 62-year-old will play gigs at Belfast’s SSE Arena as well as the 3 Arena in the Irish capital in 2025 alongside guests Rianne Downey and the Lightning Seeds.

The Belfast gig will take place on March 21, while southern audiences will get to see the ex-Housemartins front man the previous day in Dublin.

Heaton announced the concerts on social media this week.

“Dublin and Belfast shows announced! We’re delighted to announce new dates at the 3 Arena on March 20 and the SSE Arena on March 21 2025,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter).

“Special guests at both these shows will be the Lightning Seeds.

“Tickets go on sale this Friday at 9:30am from Ticketmaster.”

The singer enjoyed chart success with the Housemartins, releasing several singles between 1985 and 1988, including UK number-one single Caravan of Love in 1986.

Heaton formed the Beautiful South with Housemartins’ drummer Paul Hemingway; the band went on to have several hits throughout the 1990s, including number one single A Little Time.

In 2001 Heaton took a break from The Beautiful South and released his first solo album Fat Chance. The Beautiful South called it a day in 2007 citing “musical similarities”.

His song-writing was recognised at the 2022 Ivor Awards, where author and radio DJ Stuart Maconie presented him with an award for ‘Outstanding Song Collection’.

Tickets for the two Ireland gigs are on sale now on Ticketmaster.
