A key road junction in a South Gloucestershire village on the outskirts of Bristol will be subject to roadworks today (Monday, October 21) for five days as the road is resurfaced. The junction of the B4058 Bristol Road, with Alexander Road and Old Gloucester Road, in Frenchay, will partially close until Friday whilst further junction works will continue until Friday.

Starting today, the junction of Alexander Road with Bristol Road will close until Wednesday, where vehicle access will be barred. On Bristol Road and Old Gloucester Road, temporary traffic lights will be installed and a diversion route signposted.

According to One.Network, the work contains: “Plain off half carriageway (pooling), resurface and apply anti-skid. Multi-way Temporary Traffic Signals on Old Gloucester Road and Bristol Road.” Bristol Road will also have a lane closed during the initial works.

The diversion follows: Alexander Road, Beckspool Road, Begbrook Park and onto Frenchay Park Road, leading to Bristol Road.

Following the first phase, the junction linking Bristol Road and Alexander Road will reopen and the junction linking Bristol Road and Old Gloucester Road will close from Thursday, October 24 for a day. Two-way traffic lights will be installed on Bristol Road/Frenchay Park Road as a lane is closed on the B4058.

A diversion on Old Gloucester Road follows the former onto Filton Road and onto Bristol Road. The junction forms part of the main route through Frenchay from the A4018 towards the main Frenchay village.
