The Voice fans were disappointed to learn about a big change which has been made to the current series of the ITV favourite.
It comes after the official Instagram account posted an update – one which not many fans were impressed by as many took to the comments section of the announcement.
Earlier this week, The Voice UK Instagram account shared a snap of the semi finalists and the coaches mentoring them, writing in the caption: “Here they are! 2024’s Semi Finalists! We can’t wait to see what they sing next week! #TheVoiceUK.”
However, the semi final spots have been confirmed without the famous “battles” the show usually airs to determine who will go through.
The battles normally see each coach pitting their singers against each other with a song and picking the strongest of them, but it seems this element of the show has now been removed.
The floods of responses on the post made clear fans’ disapproval though, with one writing: “Bring back the battles. What’s the point in sending 40 people through for 28 of them to hardly ever be seen again!”
“Bring back the battles and knock outs. This is ridiculous what a waste of unseen talents!
“And bring back the four- five week finals! Doesn’t make sense from blinds to semifinals,” a second echoed.
A third asked: “I’m confused. Shouldn’t there be the battle round and the knockouts round before this???”
“I was really looking forward to the battles but they made it look like x factor not great at all. it lost its originality,” someone else complained.
“BRING BACK THE BATTLES,” another fumed.
Others didn’t seem too bothered by the removal of the battles though and instead shared their opinions of the acts which had made it though to the semi-finals.
One remarked: “Some awful decisions but some good ones too.”
“Team @mcflymusic hope you do well, I [love heart emoji] your team.” (sic)
However, it seems the fans aren’t the only ones disappointed by the change.
Sir Tom Jones himself has expressed his wish to see the battles returning, with the 84-year-old The Voice coach stating earlier this year: “[Before] they’d have to battle it out, so then the strongest one would win.

“But the battles are not there any more, so now the callbacks come very quickly, and you don’t really get a chance to work with the [singers] as much as we used to…”
Speaking to Virgin Radio, the She’s A Lady hit-maker continued: “I wish – not to go against the producers – but I think it could be longer, the singers could have more time with us.”
He elaborate: “Because sometimes you think, ‘how can I pick four people from ten when there’s so many good singers there?'”
