A famous west Belfast pub has announced it has new owners, as well as a new management team for its bar.

McEnaney’s Bar on the Glen Road announced on X that Anthony and Lisa Donnelly, who are from the area, are the new owners of the century-old establishment.

The duo are described as having a “new vision” for the location, which is a fixture of west Belfast.

The bar, which is known locally as the Gravediggers Bar “due to its close proximity to Milltown cemetery”, is now being managed by Sean Shivers.

Gerard Mulhern of PG Media said that a “special addition” to the pub would be announced at an opening event next week.

Mr Mulhern added that McEnaney’s has seen “loads of changes” in recent months, including investment in new TVs, drinks deals and live music acts.

The bar first opened in 1908, and is proud of its ties to Milltown cemetery.

It describes the bar as being “filled with people from every walk of life and every level of society”.

“It is filled with artists, painters, musicians, craftsmen, footballers, hurlers, doctors, nurses, all of whom have contributed to making Belfast the city it is today.”
