Watch your kids, not your drinks.

A Minnesota restaurant wants its patrons sober when they’re tending to their children, which is why it enacted a two-drink maximum of alcoholic beverages for parents who dine with children.

In now-deleted posts on Facebook, Bayside Saloon and Grill in Red Wing, Minn., wanted people to know about the two-drink cap after an incident with an angered patron.

One post featured a picture of a sign that read: “Please note Bayside has a two drink max for adults with children.”

A follow up post mentioned a customer who left a one-star review.

“Had a very unhappy customer tonight because we enforced this rule on him. I’m not gonna budge, if you want to go out drinking with your kids, don’t come to Bayside,” said the post. “He gave us a 1 star review and made up phoney  complaints…Oh and stiffed the server. So sad some people are like that.”

Bayside owner Glen Witham told the Daily Mail the drink rule has been enforced for 25 years. He said he didn’t think it was a big deal to post about it on social media, but many people commented and some levied threats against the eatery.

Witham said one person sent a photo of the restaurant with a bomb exploding over it.

“It was getting out of control,” said Witham. “We never thought in a million years it would go viral.”

The owner said he decided to take down the Facebook posts after numerous threats were made against him, his staff and to the upset customer who left the less-than-savoury review.

Bayside has received feedback from those for and against the two-drink policy.

The Minnesota eatery isn’t the only one that imposed a drink policy. BBC reported JD Wetherspoons in the United Kingdom enacted a two-drink policy on parents in 2000, stating the ruling was meant to deter unruly behaviour by unsupervised children.
