There’s a 70 per cent chance that the upcoming fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul could be cancelled, according to the bookies.

The duo are both preparing for the showdown in just a few weeks, with excitement and anticipation starting to rise.

It will be Tyson’s first fight since his exhibition draw with Roy Jones Jr in 2020, while Paul will be returning to the ring following his victory over Mike Perry back in July.

However, the clash has been shrouded in controversy ever since it was first announced back in March and has already been postponed once before.

Earlier this year, Tyson was forced to delay his return to the sport after suffering an ulcer flare up.

And Cloudbet believe there’s a 70 per cent chance that the clash doesn’t go ahead, with the bookies offering odds of 1.42 for the fight to be scrapped and 2.65 for it to proceed as planned.

A spokesperson said: “Our trading team has looked at everything that could affect such a high-profile fight.

“The truth is this fight is as much about spectacle as sport.

“Given the delays, Tyson’s age, and all the buzz online, odds of cancellation are high. There’s a good chance this fight never happens.”

Tyson’s professional career ended in 2005 after an infamous defeat to Kevin McBride in Las Vegas.

He is adamant that he’s got what it takes to beat Paul, however, who is 31 years his junior.

Paul has defended himself fighting a 58-year-old Tyson. Back in July, he insisted it was the veteran’s choice to return to the ring and claimed nobody has a right to decide what he does.

“I view it as, say it to Mike Tyson’s face and see what he does to you,” Paul said on The Pat McAfee Show.

“The one reporter who was discrediting him, he was about to jump over the press conference table and beat the dude’s ass.

“We aren’t Mike Tyson’s dad. We don’t control Mike Tyson. He’s his own boss.

“If he wants to go in there and make tens of millions of dollars, and potentially end my run, then who are we to stop him?

“This guy has been doing this his whole entire life. He’s a natural-born killer, and this is what he loves, and maybe this is what he needs.

“So, yeah, the age is a thing, but I believe it’s the equalizer because he has more experience, but I have the youth, and the speed, maybe, to be able to put him down.”

Tyson, for his part, has insisted he doesn’t care about his legacy as the bout approaches.

Some feel he’ll tarnish his reputation if he crashes to defeat – but the boxing icon isn’t worried.

“I didn’t take this fight for legacy,” he told the Daily Mail.

“I think legacy really, to my perspective, legacy is ego.

“Who gives a f**k how people think about them when they are gone? I’m dead. I can’t value off what somebody might think about me when I’m dead, so it means nothing to me.”
