Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has strongly refuted media speculation about his future at the club.
In a press conference on Friday, the Dutchman accused some journalists of creating “fairytales and lies” about his position.
“The noise is only coming from some of you, creating stories and fairytales and bringing lies,” Ten Hag stated, as reported by Sky Sports.
He emphasised that the club remains united behind him, saying, “I know we are all on one page at this club.”
The manager’s comments come amidst United’s poor start to the Premier League season, with the team currently sitting 14th in the table after winning just two of their first seven league games.
Ten Hag insisted that the club remains composed despite their poor league performance.

“Internally at the club it’s quiet,” he told reporters, as quoted by BBC News.
The manager acknowledged the team’s disappointing position, stating, “Of course, we are unhappy with the position where we are.”
However, he emphasised the club’s unity, saying, “We are quiet and composed, stick to the plan and are convinced we will turn the corner.”

This comes after United’s worst start to a Premier League season, with the team closer to the relegation zone than fourth place.
Ten Hag’s comments follow speculation about his future, particularly after a recent board meeting involving Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Joel Glazer.
Ten Hag acknowledged the team’s current league position, stating, “The ranking is not lying and it is not good enough.”

He highlighted the need for improvement, particularly in scoring goals.
“In general, the players do perform well and we have to start scoring and that part is the most important part in football if you want to win games,” Ten Hag said.
The manager noted that while the team is creating opportunities, they need to be more clinical in front of goal.
“We are entering the final third, the box, we are coming in good positions to score but now the most important part is to net,” he added.

Despite the current challenges, Ten Hag expressed confidence in turning the situation around.
“Sometimes you have to face challenges, sometimes it goes up, sometimes it goes down. I am sure we will make it a success like we did in the last two seasons,” he stated.
The manager pointed to underlying positive signs in the team’s performance.
“Underneath I see good things, good patterns and good stats – that confirms we are in a good direction,” Ten Hag told Sky Sports.

Ten Hag also referenced past successes, reminding critics of the team’s achievements under his leadership.
