Ex-CNN host Don Lemon returned to the network that fired him to say most Black men in battleground states are pro-Donald Trump.

During a segment with CNN anchor Dana Bash earlier this week, Lemon said he interviewed Black men in battleground states and noted most of them will vote for Trump in the coming presidential election.

“Most of the time they said ‘for economic reasons,’” Lemon told Bash.

The disgraced former CNN anchor said he tried to educate voters that stimulus cheques were courtesy of the Democratic Congress, noting Trump held it up so that his name could be on the cheque. This caused voters to believe the cheques came directly from the former president.

At the time, U.S. Treasury officials denied that adding Trump’s name to the stimulus cheques was the reason for any delays, per Daily Mail.

Lemon pointed out that President Joe Biden also handed out “one or two” stimulus cheques yet male Black voters he interviewed didn’t seem to know that.

He said voters can cast ballots as they choose, but he believes the reasons to vote for a candidate should be “accurate and factual, and you should know why you’re supporting someone.”

Last week, a New York Times poll showed 70% of Black male voters backed Harris while 20% backed Trump. The percentage for Harris was down from 85% who supported Biden in 2020.

In 2023, Lemon was turfed by CNN after a number of scandals, including accusations of misogyny and misbehaviour.
