Michael McIntyre is quick to shut down David Walliams after the ex-Britain’s Got Talent judge sought assistance during the latest episode of BBC’s The Wheel.

The quiz show makes a comeback to BBC One this Saturday (October 19) featuring an impressive cast which includes the Little Britain icon David. In a sneak peek of the upcoming episode, it’s revealed that he gets chosen to aid a contestant with a football-related query.

When The Wheel selects David, Michael poses the question: “During their Premier League career, which of these players was issued with the most yellow cards? ” giving options like Paul Ince, Wayne Rooney, Nicky Butt, or Paul Scholes as the potential answers.

David advises the contestant: “You know what a yellow card is right? It’s when you’ve been naughty but not that naughty. It’s a slap on the wrist. My first guess is Wayne Rooney, my sense of him is he played hard and he’s the kind of person who would kind of get cards.”

Agreeing with the suggestion, the contestant decides to trust David’s judgement. Yet, a hesitant David subsequently asks Michael: “Is Nicky Butt really famous? “, reports the Mirror.

Unable to guide them, Michael says: “I can’t, I can’t speak.” To which David humorously retorts: “You can’t speak? It’s all you do.” Michael then states: “I can’t speak at the moment.”

Followed by David’s point scoring: “You never stop” prompting Michael to clap back with: “It stops now.”

With Wayne Rooney as their final answer locked in, viewers are left hanging until the show broadcasts this weekend to find out if they made the right choice.

The Wheel made a comeback to our screens last weekend, introducing some fresh changes. The popular BBC show involves members of the public answering quiz questions divided into specific categories for a chance to win cash prizes, with a host of celebrity experts on hand to assist.

However, it’s not as straightforward as it seems, with the wheel spinning and contestants left hoping it will land on the celebrity that corresponds with their question. The aim is to secure the hot seat by the end, but producers have introduced some new twists for the ongoing fifth series.

In previous series, contestants could still climb back up to play again even if they answered incorrectly in the final stage, but this time around, they will be permanently eliminated from the show.

Micheal McIntyre’s The Wheel continues on BBC One at 8.20pm on Saturday
