Dozens of ‘Free Palestine’ protestors marched through Bristol City Centre this evening (Friday, October 18) – before managing to get inside the Bristol City Council building and chanting their support for Palestine inside the council halls.

The Bristol Protest for Palestine gathered at the fountains, near the Bristol Harbourside, from 5pm, with an introductory speech about the cause, before the group marched along Anchor Road and up to College Green, eventually ending up inside the City Council building.

The protestors could be seen carrying Palestinian flags, as well as a ‘Stop the War Coalition banner’, as they chanted ‘Free, free Palestine’.

And upon entering the council building, they started up a lively, rousing sing-song chant, clapping as they repeated: “We are the people, we won’t be silenced”.

The protest, organised by the Bristol Palestine Solidarity Campaign, remained peaceful and ran smoothly. The same group have also organised the Big Ride for Palestine tomorrow (October 19), starting from 10.30am at the Cascade Steps, and ending at 1pm at College Green.

The event poster states: “We ride for a ceasefire, for an end to the occupation and to oppose the genocide, which is now in its second year. Cycle safe, flags and signs welcome.”
