Police have arrested a teenager on suspicion of the murder of a man in his 30s who was found injured in a residential street and died at the scene. Essex Police said the 19-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday night and is being held in connection with Tuesday’s incident.

The force previously said firearms officers were deployed to the scene of a reported assault in Meadgate Avenue, Chelmsford, after receiving a call at about 12.30pm on Tuesday. Police said three suspects wearing balaclavas were seen leaving the area afterwards.

They said officers have built a timeline of events, reviewed hours of CCTV footage, carried out house-to-house inquiries, and undertaken phone and vehicle checks. Detectives are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
