A health chief has explained what paramedics found when they responded to the emergency calls after singer Liam Payne fell to his death. Local police said the 31-year-old singer fell from the third floor into the courtyard of the Casa Sur Hotel in the Palermo neighbourhood of Argentina’s capital, before medics confirmed his death.

Speaking to Argentinian television, the director of El Sistema de Atención Médica de Emergencias, known as SAME, the country’s emergency medical operatives, Alberto Crescenti, confirmed that Liam had fallen into the inner courtyard of hotel CasaSur.

Speaking to TN he said: “Within minutes a SAME team arrived and confirmed the death of this man, who we later found out was a member of a musical group,” He said the injuries were so severe the paramedics weren’t able to resuscitate him. “There was no possibility of doing anything,” said Crescenti, who said he will have to wait for the results of the autopsy to determine how the event that led to the death of the 31-year-old singer occurred.

The fall would have been 13 or 14 metres, according to Crescenti. “According to what the team saw, he had a fractured skull base. The injuries were very serious,” he added.

Currently, a prosecutor is already working on the cause of the singer’s death. The city police are also working on the cause of death.

Mr Crescenti, speaking to LN+ about the state in which the musician was found said: “He had injuries that were incompatible with life We would have liked to have had a chance for him, but the injuries he had were very serious. I think the fall he suffered was almost 14 metres. The team could do nothing, there was no possibility of resuscitation. His whole body was seriously injured.”

Earlier this month Liam had attended former One Direction star Niall Horan’s show in Buenos Aires on October 2 as part of his Latin American tour. Liam was seen in one of the boxes at the stadium, where he enjoyed every moment of the concert.

A few days earlier, upon arriving in the country, Payne was photographed at the airport with a fan, whom he asked to exchange glasses. He was relaxed and in a very good mood. Payne arrived in the country to accompany Horan, but both friends said goodbye on October 3, one day after the Movistar Arena show. He only arrived at Casa Sur on the 13th, ten days later, and so far it is not known where he stayed or if he stayed in Buenos Aires between the 3rd and 13th of this month.

Local police said the 31-year-old singer fell from the third floor into the courtyard of the Casa Sur Hotel in the Palermo neighbourhood of Argentina’s capital, before medics confirmed his death. According to police in Buenos Aires, officers were initially responding to reports “of an aggressive man who may have been under the effects of drugs and alcohol”.

Pictures showed shocked fans gathering outside the hotel after police cordoned off the area, with forensic investigators in white protective suits and blue gloves seen entering and leaving. Fans were photographed lighting candles and leaving flowers at the side of the road in an impromptu vigil as they paid tribute to the music star.

The Foreign Office confirmed it is in contact with authorities in Argentina “regarding reports of the death of a British man”. But a spokesman declined to comment any further, including on the identity of the man involved.
