If you film it, the police will come.
Peel Regional Police and York Regional Police have charged a 40-year-old Bolton man with more than 50 offences after they say he filmed himself racing on his motorcycle and posted it on social media.
The two police forces conducted a parallel investigation named Project Splitting Eagle after they became aware in September of an online social media channel where multiple videos were being posted of a motorcycle driving dangerously at a high speed.
Cops allege that between June and September, the accused posted multiple videos of himself racing a grey motorcycle weaving between lanes of traffic and reaching speeds of up to 258 kilometres per hour.
Aided by the video, police identified a driver and vehicle.
On Sept. 26, Peel police charged Gregory Harrington with five counts each of dangerous operation and drive motor vehicle — perform stunt, four counts each of speeding, and one count of race a motor vehicle.
Harrington also had his driver’s licence suspended and his motorcycle, a 2014 Yamaha R6, impounded. York police also charged him with 36 additional offences.
