A new café has opened in the city centre by the team behind a popular brewpub. Commune, which opened yesterday, is owned by Left Handed Giant, a brewery with seven venues across the city.

Commune is located within an office block known as Blok and sits on the corner of Castle Street and Tower Hill, near Castle Park. It is located just off the Old Market roundabout.

The card-only café serves fresh sandwiches and salads with a range of coffees roasted by Bristolian brand Triple Co. It also serves a range of sweet treats and cakes. Commune opens from 8am until 4pm everyday.

Commune also has access to a courtyard garden which overlooks a historic church, St Philip & St Jacob Church, which is one of Bristol’s oldest churches.

Posting on Instagram before the opening, Commune said: “We are Commune, your local specialty coffee shop just off of Castle Park. We’re just putting the finishing touches on our new premises and we are pumped to show you!”

Commune is the seventh venue which Left Handed Giant operates in the city. As well as famed brewery Taproom in St Philips and the Brewpub in Finzels Reach, Left Handed Giant operates the Small Bar on King Street, Renatos, Hotplate in Stokes Croft and the Farside, also in Stokes Croft.
