Brazilian MMA fighter Guilherme “Bomba” Vasconcelos has reportedly died at the age 38.

Vasconcelos competed in both UFC and Bellator during his fighting career, but also was known in the public eye for dating singer Demi Lovato in 2017.

Guilherme’s uncle, Walter, announced the fighter’s death on social media.

“We were looking forward to your visit for Christmas, which will no longer happen,” he wrote on Facebook, according to reports.

“Life is fleeting, and we woke up to this devastating news. What a time we live in.

“We pray for you! May God, who can do all things, welcome you in His infinite mercy and comfort all who have always loved you!”

A report from Brazilian news outlet UOL states that Vasconcelos died in Los Angeles and that a cause of death is not known.

Vasconcelos reportedly had posted a picture outside of a Jiu-Jitsu studio less than 24 hours before his death was announced.

The fighter known as Bomba had a 10-6 professional record in MMA and competed in early 2014 as a cast member on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil, Season 3. He went 1-1 on the show, but earned a UFC contract anyway. However, he lost his sole fight in the promotion, dropping a unanimous decision to Luke Zachrich at UFC 175.

According to TMZ, Vasconcelos and Lovato began dating after being spotted together on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day in 2017.

They split after several months of dating with outlets reporting the relationship “had run its course.”

UOL also reported that Vasconcelos left behind a one-year-old daughter, whom he shared with model Kayla Lauren.

Several MMA fighters posted tributes to their fallen comrade.

Vinny Magalhaes posted a picture of Bomba on Instagram with the caption: “I rarely make posts like this, and honestly I never imagined I’d make a post like this for a guy as good as you.

“Rest in peace my friend, hope you find the peace you’ve been looking for on the other side.”

Jamie Huey, who was a coach on Vasconcelos’ TUF season, posted a carousel of photos which featured the fighter during his time on the show.

“This experience was both an honor and a blessing for me,” Huey wrote. “Bomba, thank you for being a part of my journey and for letting me be a part of yours.

“Our matching team, bad guys, tattoos, they take on new meaning today. Rest in peace, Champ.”
