Celtic have been fined and given a suspended ban from selling away tickets for one European match after their supporters let off fireworks at this month’s Champions League tie at Borussia Dortmund.

The Scottish club suffered a painful 7-1 loss in Germany, but could face further punishment for the behaviour of their fans.

UEFA’s control, ethics and disciplinary body (CEDB) confirmed on Wednesday that Celtic had been fined €20,000 along with a suspended ban for the incident on October 1.

“The CEDB has decided to fine Celtic €20,000 and to ban Celtic from selling tickets to its away supporters for a total of one UEFA club competition match, for lighting of fireworks,” a UEFA statement read.

“Said ban from selling tickets to its away supporters is suspended for a probationary period of two years, starting from the date of the present decision.”
