There was a grisly discovery for some New Yorkers in Manhattan after an 80-year-old woman jumped to her death from the 28th floor of the Park Regis Apartments on Saturday afternoon.
The unidentified woman was left decapitated after her body hit something on the side of the high-rise on the Upper East Side around 3:30 p.m., reported the New York Post.
Witnesses and the police said her body became entangled on something on the building, which had balconies.
“I pulled up just as she was laying there, she had no head,” a building resident told the Post on Saturday.
“The head and the arm were clean cut off on the other side, they ended up on the terrace.”
Other witnesses said her clothes were on a fence, which was bent from the impact of her body hitting it.
“Everyone started rushing towards the body, but she was gone,” said a 23-year-old, who witnessed the horrific incident’s aftermath to the Post.
The Post reported that the elderly woman was the second jumper on Saturday, after a 52-year-old man jumped from a 17th floor balcony of his Chelsea building in an apparent suicide around 5 a.m.
A grief-stricken woman, believed to be the wife, was seen sobbing outside following the fatal fall.
