Despite his very public flirtations, Sydney Sweeney will not be calling the University of Oregon’s football mascot.
During a segment of ESPN’s College GameDay broadcast on Saturday that featured High Potential star Kaitlin Olson, the Ducks mascot tried to shoot his shot with Sweeney when he was spotted in the background holding up a sign that read, “Sydney Sweeney, call me back.”
The 27-year-old Anyone but You star saw his televised plea, but pulled out a classic response to let him down gently in a response posted to her Instagram Story.
“Sorry. Changed my number haha,” she replied overtop of a screenshot from the broadcast.
Quarterback Dillon Gabriel threw two touchdown passes and ran for another late score, helping third-ranked Oregon outlast No. 2 Ohio State 32-31 on Saturday night.
Prior to the game, Olson threw her support behind Oregon, who are now 6-0 on the season.
“Guys, this is my college. That’s right, this is my place,” Olson said, referring to the University of Oregon. “I love it here. I went to college here, my family went to college here, I lost my virginity here — sorry about that, Dad — (and) my fake ID was taken away … Oregon Ducks, all the way! Oregon Ducks, all day long.”
After the victory, the Oregon fans rushed the field and the Ducks’ mascot crowd-surfed over their shoulders. Afterward coach Dan Lanning joked with reporters: “Anyone have a heart-rate monitor?”
Meanwhile, Sweeney recently detailed how paparazzi are endangering her safety after photographers showed up at her home.
“They said, ‘If you tell her to just come outside in a bikini, I’ll take pictures and then I’ll leave you alone,’” Sweeney recalled in a new interview with Glamour magazine.
“When those photos go out, then my actual safety is at risk,” Sweeney continued. “Everyone knows where I am. Now there’s boats that go by, and I literally hear them say, ‘This is Sydney Sweeney’s house.’ It becomes a star tour in my front yard.”
Sweeney also dismissed speculation that she tips off paparazzi on her location. “Why would I call the paparazzi to take pictures of me at my own house when my baby cousins and family are there and I’m in my backyard? Why would I ever want that? I have pictures of these guys in kayaks hiding in bushes in the ocean. They got there at 8 a.m. and wouldn’t leave until 4 p.m. I should be able to be in my home and feel comfortable and safe.”
