Ladies footballers from three different counties are in the running for the 2024 TG4 Senior Players’ Player of the Year award.
Kerry’s Kayleigh Cronin, Galway’s Nicola Ward and Armagh’s Lauren McConville have been nominated for the sport’s top individual honour on the back of stellar campaigns for their respective counties.
Cronin was Player of the Match in Kerry’s TG4 All-Ireland Senior Final triumph over Galway, for whom Ward also enjoyed an outstanding campaign, most notably in their stunning Quarter-Final ambush of 2023 champions Dublin.
McConville, meanwhile, played a starring role as Armagh captured the Lidl League Division 1 and Ulster titles en route to reaching the All-Ireland Semi-Finals.
All three have also been nominated for TG4 All-Star awards.
The Senior, Intermediate and Junior Players of the Year will be revealed at the All-Star awards banquet at the Bonnington Dublin Hotel on Saturday, November 16.
The Intermediate shortlist is made up of two players from champions Leitrim (captain Michelle Guckian and defender Charlene Tyrell) plus Tyrone skipper Aoibhinn McHugh. All three were recently named on the TG4 Intermediate Team of the Championship.
In the Junior grade, Fermanagh pair Bláithín Bogue and Eimear Smyth are nominated alongside Louth star Kate Flood.
The nominees in all three categories have all been selected by their fellow players, who could not vote for their own team-mates.
