When on the hunt for a new mascara, most of us are on the lookout for something that’ll leave your lashes with drama, volume and gorgeous, fluttery length. And as beauty writers, we’ve been lucky enough to test a few mascaras in our time whose results have blown us away – from Charlotte Tilbury’s new Exagger-eyes mascara to the latest Maybelline Burgundy Haze.
One of the newest launches that we were excited to test out was Sculpted By Aimee’s new LashLift mascara, which launched just weeks ago, with promises of ‘lifted, longer-looking lashes’ that are weightless – and all in one coat.
Coming in two gorgeous shades – deep, jet Ultra Black and Rich Brown – the mascara has caused make-up fans to even ditch their eye-lash curlers and false lashes in favour of this £20 product – which is available on the Sculpted by Aimee website as well as the likes of Selfridges.

With a one-of-a-kind 252 multi-level bristle brush, make-up buffs Tiffany Lo and Eve Rowlands tested out the mascara for themselves to see how it fared alongside other industry favourites – and it’s safe to say it’s been a hit. Read their thoughts on this new product below…
Eve’s thoughts on the Ultra-Black mascara
As someone with relatively unimpressive natural lashes – they’re dark thanks to my brunette locks but they have no curl, no length and no lift – I was super excited to see the results of this ‘LashLift’ mascara that has had so much positive feedback.
My go tos – to which I return time and again – are Maybelline’s Sky High mascara with intermissions of Iconic London’s Triple Threat, loved for their lengthening magic and voluminous finish. But in Sculpted By Aimee’s newest product, they’ve got some serious competition.
The packaging, firstly, is really chic and comes in an elegant mauve-pink matte bottle that’s thicker and sturdier than most I’ve seen. The wand is slightly thicker on one side and curved to ensure maximum coverage on all your lashes. I like that there are so many bristles as it makes combing through them easy without the product clumping up – especially when putting multiple coats on.
While Aimee herself stated that you only need one coat to give your lashes an ‘astronomical lift’, applying it I unfortunately needed two (and max three if I wanted more of an effect). But after two coats – using the technique she demonstrated on the website – I loved how my lashes looked. They certainly had more body and length and didn’t look spidery nor clunky. They looked really quite lifted, thick and voluminous – it framed my eyes gorgeously and gave the fluttery effect I was after.
The formula on my lashes too felt, as promised, lightweight and, perhaps the cherry on top for me, it did not irritate my sensitive eyes – as some mascaras have previously done. That’s the ‘nourishing’ formula, no doubt. Taking it off was a total breeze too – wiping warm water on my eyes, the mascara slid off easily and didn’t require too much product following that to come off.
Now, while it didn’t give me a total false lash effect – as some users have claimed it does – it did lift my lashes wonderfully. More so than I was expecting and kept them full, lengthy and dramatic all day long. What I will say is that it’s not waterproof; with just a few tears (provoked by your favourite TV show), you’re at risk of looking like a raccoon.
Despite that, with results like this, I’ll certainly be adding it to my shopping cart when I run out.
Tiffany’s thoughts on the Rich Brown mascara
When it comes to eye makeup, a black mascara seems to be a no-brainer but I’m tempted to try something different and as soon as I found that Sculpted by Aimee’s new mascara is available in Rich Brown, I was excited.
To test if it does what it claims, I ditched my eyelash curler and copied the techniques from founder Aimee Connolly. The mascara bottle is chunky and shaped like a glowstick but surprisingly lightweight, especially compared to the Charlotte Tilbury glass bottle Exagger-eye Mascara. Applying the mascara on was pretty easy and the bristles didn’t get clumped because of the silicone material.
Coat by coat, I noticed my short lashes getting longer and as I closed my eyes while brushing it upwards, the transformation was magical. I used to think I can’t live without an eyelash curler but the result speaks for itself and the brown colour gives a ‘natural look’ to the classic black.
The only thing I wish they could add is a spikey bulb at the tip of the wand so it could reach the short inner corner lashes. It got slightly messy when I tried to brush around the corners but I could simply remove them with a cotton bud.
