A Belfast bound Stena Line ferry had to be tugged to safety after getting into difficulties at sea.

It’s understood the vessel suffered engine failure on Friday and came to a halt off the coast of Holywood in Co Down.

The stricken vessel was later anchored on the Antrim coast before being towed away for repairs on Saturday afternoon.

It’s not clear if any, or how many passengers, were affected.

Stena Line has been contacted for comment.
