CRINGEWORTHY

There are three things that make me cringe. Blue Jays management, Maple Leafs success in the playoffs, and whenever Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly says anything.

(There are many people that share your level of cringe on these issues)

CHOW FULL OF EXCUSES

Re “‘Exhausted, ‘then ‘spammed,’ Chow’s now ‘sorry’ — but for what, exactly?” (Joe Warmington, Oct. 10): Olivia, Olivia stop making excuses. Everyone in the world knows Oct. 7. It was not important to you. That is the bottom line. What could possibly have been more important on that night? Who are your advisors exactly, they are doing a poor job. Jack would have been there. Did you learn anything during your time with him over the years? Do not make excuses. Shame on you.

Andrew Kotys

(Did you see her latest excuse? She said it didn’t matter because she “wore black”. Chow is a disgrace)

MAYOR LACKS LEADERSHIP

Let’s say goodbye to your mayor. I remember when I was younger, politicians had principles, not polling data from their districts to control their vocal messaging. Actions speak louder than words! Please, can we have some leaders with leadership qualities. I’m sorry, Toronto, you seem to be lacking one. Grow a spine, stand for all of your constituents not just your favourites.

Peter Karas
Oakville

(Chow has clearly made a political calculus. It’s appalling)

SMART MOVES

Re “Trudeau should listen to Canucks and trim bureaucracy” (Grady Munro and Jake Fuss, Oct. 3): The Liberal response will as usual be to blame Conservatives as uncaring if they engage in massive firings. If the Conservatives are smart they’ll avoid that pitfall and reduce the numbers by freezing jobs that become vacant. Such a strategy will require some reassignments to protect those positions deemed to be essential. This approach will take longer but be less disruptive since no one loses their job. In addition, the issue of severance becomes moot.

(The Conservatives are going to act strategically but no matter what, the public service will rebel against them)
