Banbridge get their EYHL campaign underway as they travel to face UCD in Dublin on Saturday.

The reigning champions missed last Saturday’s opening weekend as they were competing in European action in London.

The side ended their continental run with last week’s 3-0 win over Swiss side Grasshopper Club Zurich courtesy of two goals from Jonny McKee and a strike from Philip Brown.

Having won the title last season, Scott McCandless’ side have added Fergus Gibson and Max Taylor to their ranks as they begin their title defence against Dublin opposition.

Having finished in the relegation places, UCD were handed an 11th-hour reprieve by virtue of Glenanne’s withdrawal from the EY Hockey League for the 2024/25 Season.

Elsewhere, Lisnagarvey play their first home game of the EYHL season as they host Dubliners Pembroke Wanderers.

Last weekend the Hillsborough outfit got their season off to a winning start as a Jonny Lynch strike sealed a narrow 1-0 over Avoca.

Opponents Pembroke began their season with a disappointing 5-1 defeat against Three Rock Rovers and will be out to avoid the same fate when they travel to Comber Road.

Annadale are also in action as they take on YMCA and look to bounce back from last week’s shock Anderson Cup defeat to Bangor.

A strike from Dave McClure was enough to knock the Belfast side out of the competition at the Quarter-Final stage leaving them to focus on their League campaign.

They face an uphill battle in their first fixture as they face a YMCA outfit that finished fourth last season, just two points behind Lisnagarvey.

Having narrowly avoided relegation last season, Dale will be hoping for a quick start to 2024/25 to avoid being in a similar scenario come the end of the season.

The Ulster Men’s Premier League gets underway with Bangor hosting Belfast Harlequins at the Aurora Leisure Centre.

The home side come into the tie after their victory over Annadale last weekend, whilst Harlequins tasted defeat on their last outing.

Having drawn 1-1 with South Antrim in normal time in their Anderson Cup tie two weeks ago, the Belfast club went on to lose on penalty run-ins.

The game also marks the first League game for the side under new player/coach Paddy Jack who will be hoping his side can go one step further this season and secure EYHL2 qualification.
