An M5 motorist was left startled, under the impression that a lorry was driving towards her on the wrong side of the motorway. She shared her experience with fellow road users on an M5 Traffic and Travel Facebook group.

The photo she posted seemed to show a lorry going against the flow of traffic on the M5 amidst oncoming vehicles. However, what initially appeared to be a serious traffic violation turned out to be an optical illusion – the lorry was actually being towed in the correct lane.

In her online post, Deborah Anne Higgs wrote: “With all that goes on with our motorways this freaked me out! Until, that is, I realised it was being towed! “. Her post drew comments from others who confessed they would have been equally shocked.

Many admitted that it took them some time to understand the true nature of the image. Contributing to the thread, Debbie Miller noted: “It would of had me too,”, as reported by Gloucestershire Live.

Wendy Sommers echoed the sentiment: “Had me fooled for a moment too! ! “. Similarly, Bev Harrison revealed: “I looked twice.”

Elaine Walker added: “Took me ages to realise anything was wrong.”

Kirsty Neath remarked: “Oh bless, that’s so funny would freak me out too. But surely should have ‘on tow’ signs? ” Danni Kate Cleeton sympathised with the alarm, saying: “You have every reason to freak out to be honest.”
