Michael Schumacher social media channels have ended a five-month hiatus, following the F1 legend’s first reported appearance in public since his tragic accident in 2013. The F1 legend suffered life-changing injuries while on a trip in the French Alps 11 years ago.

His health updates have been kept under wraps ever since, with his family protecting the privacy of the German racer, reports Dublin Live.. His former Ferrari boss, Jean Todt, shared some heartfelt words with L’Equipe last December and said: “Michael is here, so I don’t miss him. He is simply not the Michael he used to be.”

Todt warmly added: “He is different, and is wonderfully guided by his wife and children who protect him. His life is different now, and I have the privilege of sharing moments with him. That’s all there is to say.”

In the midst of tight-lipped privacy, its understood that Schumacher quietly attended his daughter Gina-Maria’s wedding to Iain Bethke in Majorca last September. The celebration was veiled in secrecy, with attendees required to hand over their phones to ensure no images of the celebrity made it out.

After a spate of sparse news, this Tuesday marked an update on Schumacher’s typically managed social profiles with a tweet – their first since May. Keeping in line with the account’s usual approach, the post paid homage to the racing hero’s prestigious career.

The account took to social media to share a nostalgic look back at a moment of glory, posting several images from the 2000 victory podium and captioning the post: “Exploding emotions. F1 GP Japan, first world championship title with Ferrari on this day in 2000.”
