- Rolls-Royce has updated its Ghost models for 2025, dubbing them the Ghost Series II
- Changes include new front styling, new taillights, and enhancements to the interior
- There’s also available new fabric incorporating some 2.2 million stitches per interior
When most automakers update a vehicle, it’s simply known as a “refresh” — but when Rolls-Royce does it, the old name often isn’t enough. So, for 2025, the British luxury firm is introducing the Ghost Series II. It’s a “subtle evolution,” the company said, while also calling it the “most technologically advanced and driver-focused V12 Rolls-Royce yet.”
The marque also offers Black Badge versions of most of its vehicles, with more power and with unique black accents. These are treated as their own model lines, rather than option packages, and so there is a Black Badge Ghost Series II, as well.
The update is primarily to the car’s styling and features — the powertrain remains untouched. Both versions of the Series II use a twin-turbocharged 6.75-litre V12, but it makes 563 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque in the Ghost; and 591 horsepower and 664 lb-ft in the Black Badge Ghost.
The Ghost was initially introduced for 2009, intending to reach buyers who were younger than those who went for the flagship Phantom; and this current second-generation Ghost debuted in 2020.
On the outside, the Ghost Series II includes a gently-restyled front end with updated headlights and daytime running lights; new lower fascia; and a slightly larger grille. At the rear are new taillights inspired by the all-electric Spectre, with vertical lights surrounded by chrome (or black chrome on the Black Badge model). New 22-inch wheel designs include fully or partly polished rims.
Customers can have their cars painted in any of about 44,000 colours the automaker offers, including a new Mustique Blue created for the updated Ghost, and which contains mica and glass flakes for a shimmer effect.
Inside, the Ghost receives a dash-wide glass panel incorporating the infotainment system and digital instrument cluster – and those digital dials can be coloured to match the car’s shade. In the rear seats, passengers can now connect up to two streaming devices into the rear screens, which have a new interface with upgraded WiFi hotspot and hidden USB-C charging ports.
The 18-speaker audio system is now upgraded to a 1,400-watt amplifier, and the car’s aluminum sills are used as resonance chambers for the low-frequency speakers — or, as Rolls-Royce puts it, “essentially transforming the lower section of the motor car into a generous floor-standing speaker placed on its side.”
For those who opt for a Bespoke Audio system, two exciters are bonded inside the headliner, “transforming it into an expansive overhead sound stage,” and with cabin microphones that monitor the frequency balance and automatically adjust the amplifier for optimized sound.
Other details include a new Spirit of Ecstasy clock cabinet, which puts an analogue clock and stainless-steel mascot into the dash; an illuminated dash panel of stars that move as in a time-lapse view of the night sky; new Grey Stained Ash open-pore wood trim; and Duality Twill, a bamboo-based fabric embroidered with the interlinked “RR” logo.
A full interior of that fabric requires up to 2.2 million stitches, 20 hours of sewing, and more than 17 kilometres (11 miles) of thread. If that isn’t your style, you can opt for Placed Perforation leather, which creates graphics in the leather using small perforations.
The upgrades also apply to the longer-wheelbase Ghost Extended Series II, which offers reclining “Serenity Seating” and a champagne cooler with two chilling modes, depending on whether you’re stocking regular or vintage bubbly. No matter which, just be sure not to share it with the driver.
