The inquest into the death of Lady Gabriella’s late husband Thomas Kingston will examine whether his mind was affected by medication he was taking.
Kingston was found dead on February 25 at his parent’s home in the Cotswolds at the age of 45. He died from “a traumatic head wound”.
Speaking at a pre-inquest review hearing at Gloucestershire Coroner’s Court, Martin Porter KC told Kingston’s family “that there could be a connection” between the new medication he was taking and his state of mind right before he died.
He told the court: “The inquiry shouldn’t be limited to the very final cause of death, which is clear and obvious.”
Thomas Kingston was found dead in FebruaryGettySpeaking to the hearing, in which Kingston’s parents were in attendance, Porter added: “In support of my submissions, the family have been advised that there could be a connection… for your court to investigate.”
Katy Skerrett, senior coroner for Gloucestershire, said the “recent prescription… should be part of the scope”. She added: “I agree with Porter, however, I do caveat strongly that whether a causative link will be established is a very different matter.”
Lady Gabriella was not present at the hearing.
During the first hearing, which took place in March, Skerrett said: “Kingston was visiting his parents’ home in the Cotswolds. On February 25 2024, he ate lunch with his parents. His father went out to walk the dogs.

“On his return Kingston was not in the house and after approximately 30 minutes his mother went to look for him. His father forced entry into a locked-out building when no reply could be gained.
“He found Kingston deceased with a catastrophic head injury. A gun was present at the scene. Emergency services were called. Police are satisfied that the death is not suspicious.”
His funeral took place at the Chapel Royal in St James’s Palace in March.
At the time Lady Gabriella paid tribute to her husband, describing him as “an exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him”.

She said his death had come as a “great shock to the whole family”.
Lady Gabriella and Kingston married in May 2019 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor and held their reception at Frogmore House.
The late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were among the guests at their wedding.
Lady Gabriella is the King’s second cousin and 56th in line to the throne, although she is in the Royal Family she is not a working member.
