Tesco has issued a four-week warning to millions of customers ahead of the busy festive period later this year. December 25 can be a truly joyous occasion, but as anyone who has ever hosted on Christmas Day will know, it can also some with a lot of stress.

There’s a lot to remember, buy, prepare and organise. So many people like to plan ahead by booking delivery or click and collect slots at their local supermarket, giving them one less task to tick off.

On Tuesday, October 8, Tesco revealed its Christmas slot dates, adding it has made thousands more available in the two weeks before Christmas Day this year. The supermarket giant has added 60 more delivery vans to its fleet, boosting capacity for customers as the big day draws closer.

For anyone signed up to an Anytime Delivery Saver plan or Click+Collect plan, Tesco will release its Christmas slots for booking in four weeks’ time – at 6am on Tuesday, November 5. Slots for all other customers will open at 6am the following week, on Tuesday, November 12.

Tesco bosses said slots are being made available earlier than in 2023, with a spokesperson adding: “There is still time to sign up for a Delivery Saver plan and secure early access to online slots for the festive period this year. Anyone signed up to an Anytime Delivery Saver plan or Click+Collect plan can get a week’s head start.”

Delivery Saver is Tesco’s subscription-based delivery service designed to “help reduce the cost of regular online grocery orders, with a range of plans running for 6 or 12 months and starting from £2.49 a month”. Any orders will be delivered to subscribers, or made available through the Click+Collect service at selected stores, with all slots included in the monthly fee.

Tesco said it has also added thousands of extra slots to its rapid delivery service, Whoosh, with thousands of extra slots available on Christmas Eve this year.
