BBC broadcaster Stephen Nolan has confirmed his radio show finished early this morning after his mum “took ill” and said she “will always come first”.
It comes as the broadcaster was inundated with well wishes online for his mother.
Those listening to the Radio Ulster programme this morning noticed his show finished after the news bulletin at 10am, with the Connor Philips Show then beginning 30 minutes earlier than normal.
Taking to social media, Mr Nolan confirmed he “got a phone call during the show to say my mum took ill this morning after falling overnight”.
“I’m just letting you all know that’s why I left early. Mum will always come first,” he said.
After giving his followers the update, a number of people offered their support including the SDLP MLA Colin McGrath who posted: “Best wishes to your mum Stephen, I got that same call last August. It immediately becomes your priority. Hope all is well, Audrey.”
Former police officer Jon Burrows added: “Best wishes to her”.
Meanwhile broadcaster Narinder Kaur sent a heart emoji on the social media platform.
