A well-known blinds and curtains business in Co Down has been sold by its founders after 34 years in business.

Elite Blinds & Curtains outside Lisburn is now owned by Apex Blinds after it was sold by Tony and Gail Murphy, who established the business in 1990.

The couple said business would continue as usual at its main showroom at Braniel Hall on Hillhall Road following the takeover by Apex Blinds, led by Jonny Orr.

They handed over the business to Mr Orr on October 1.

The couple said: “After over 30 years of hard work and dedication, we have built the business into one of the most successful window blind businesses and manufacturers in the local area.

“Over its many years at the Braniel Hall on the Hillhall Road, the business has grown from strength to strength, continuously having to change with the times and keep up with the evolving trends and fashions.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank their wonderful, dedicated customers for their continued support and loyalty during their time at Elite.”

They also thanked their “dedicated and hard-working staff,” whose employment is to continue under the new ownership.

Mr and Mrs Murphy added: “We’ve now confidently handed over the reins to new owners, Apex Blinds, under the management of Jonny Orr.

“We wish Jonny and his team every success for a thriving future, and we have absolutely no doubt that, under his ownership, the business will continue to flourish.

“Together, Elite and Apex offer a combined 70 years of experience and specialism in blinds, curtains and awnings, which can only reinforce customer confidence in our brand and products.”

Apex Blinds added: “Business will continue as usual from the Braniel Hall, Hillhall Road.

“Existing and new customers are welcome to pop down to our extensive showroom where we showcase our product range and have a specialist team who can help you find the perfect window coverings.”

Apex Blinds marked its eighth anniversary earlier this year.
