Matt Hall – 5

Looked shaky all first half and conceded four. Admittedly, none of the goals were clearly his fault and the stand-in goalkeeper made some decent saves, particularly in the second half.

Lino Sousa – 5

In fairness, one of Bristol Rovers‘ better players of the night, although the standard was pretty low. Had a few good one-v-one moments and showed individual quality with some of his touches. Still way off the level he’s set in previous games.

Taylor Moore – 4

Will no doubt be disappointed with his performance, especially while wearing the captain’s armband. Looked a shadow of his usual self on a night where he was supposed to lead by example as the most senior starting player and really push for a starting place in the next league game against Huddersfield Town.

Connor Taylor (off for James Wilson 64′) – 4

As one of the players that started not only the last league game but the last four, the defender was well below par. You’d like to think he was one who was going to lead by example. Way below his usual high standards.

Bryant Bilongo – 4

Played as left centre-back and did not look comfortable. A few okay defensive moments but another who had a night well below their usual standard.

Luke Thomas – 4

So much better than what he’s shown recently. Deployed at right wing-back again and I think it’s fair to say it’s really not a position where he can play his best football. Hardly noticeable on the night and was the defender up against the cross for the second goal.

Jake Garrett – 4

Made a few good tackles but was lucky with a few that seemed out of control, possibly due to the wet surface, but no contact was made. A handful of disappointing giveaways.

Luke McCormick – 4

Being booked for a dive probably sums it up. Just didn’t have the effect on the game he would’ve wanted playing an advanced role.

Kofi Shaw – 6

Rovers’ best player of the night but evidently didn’t have the impact on the game he would have wanted. Should have scored in the second half.

Isaac Hutchinson – 4

Some impressive takes and deliveries but also some poor moments losing the ball cheaply in the middle of the park. We’re desperate to see the quality he no doubt has on show. A difficult start to his Gas tenure.

Gatlin O’Donkor (off for Promise Omochere 39′) – 5

Picked up an issue early in the half and it seemingly affected the striker until he was taken off before half-time. One shot on target that was pretty straightforward for the goalkeeper.

Substitutes:

Promise Omochere (on 39′) (off for Micah Anthony 78′) – 5

Came on and used some of his physicality. Probably a player that wouldn’t have played in an ideal world in order to rest. Would imagine he went back off for that exact reason.

James Wilson (on 64′) – 6

Can’t imagine he was someone Matt Taylor would have wanted to play tonight in order to give him a rest. Didn’t concede a goal which can’t be said of his fellow defenders.

Micah Anthony (on 78′) – N/A

Came on too late to make an impact.
