Police looking into an animal complaint soon turned their attention to an arson investigation, according to the OPP.

When officers arrived the Colborne-West Sts. area in Orillia on Sept. 16, they found the animal involved in the complaint was dead. However, an accelerant was located, sparking an arson investigation.

On Sept. 19, police received video footage of a person of interest leaving the area at approximately 4:50 p.m. He was described as white, wearing black pants, a black sweater, a black baseball hat, white shoes, and carrying a backpack.

Andrew Senechal, 29, of Orillia, has been charged with arson-damage to property, mischief — damage to property, and cruelty to animals — unnecessary pain or suffering.
