The easy part to determine the final makeup of the Maple Leafs roster was completed Monday morning.

With the 5 p.m. deadline looming to name the 23-man list, the club formally signed cost-effective, one-year deals with forwards Max Pacioretty and Steven Lorentz, while agreeing to a two-year contract extension with defence prospect Cade Webber.

The signings put the Leafs on pace to be cap compliant, with an expected designation of a couple of players moving to injured list today, such as Conor Dewar, Jani Hakanpaa and possibly Calle Jarnkrok.

Forward Easton Cowan is expected to be returned to the OHL London Knights.

Pacioretty‘s pact has annual average value of $873,770 US. The 35-year-old is healthy after a couple of years in recovery from a torn Achilles tendon. The left winger’s five points in the pre-season saw him tied for the team lead.

In 902 career NHL regular-season games, the New Canaan, Conn., native has 668 points and 50 more in playoffs.

Waterloo-raised Lorentz comes aboard for $775,000. The 28-year-old is one of three Leafs added from the Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers this off-season and is expected to start as a fourth-line winger

Webber, 23, signed a two-year contract extension, beginning in the 2025-26 season. The deal is a two-way contract for the 2025-26 season before becoming a one-way deal in 2026-27 and carries an average annual value of $825,000.
