An embarrassing mistake has been spotted at a Tesco car park, leading to some customers making jokes about the move towards electric cars. Signage is important, but floor markings at one Birmingham store welcoming “electric verhicles only” were quickly spotted by shoppers.

The error was seen at the supermarket giant’s store on Ridgacre Road in Quinton. Birmingham Live reports Tesco has since said the mistake was “scheduled for correction” following its discovery by an eagle-eyed shopper.

A photo of the misspelled markings was received on Tuesday, September 26, by a customer. They said: “It appears Tesco is also being slow to understand the move to electric ‘verhicles’.”

Earlier this year Tesco came under fire for a similar spelling blunder. One store in Hastings, East Sussex, misplaced an apostrophe in the town’s name – much to the disgust of some locals.

In April, The Mirror reported Teacher Jo Harbrd was shopping when she saw a sign that read: “Serving Hasting’s shoppers a little better every day.” In fact, it should have said: “‘Hastings’.”

At the time, Jo said she felt like “vomiting” when she saw the error. Tesco has since been in touch and thanked Jo for bringing this to their attention, with the supermarket saying it would take the appropriate action to rectify the issue.
