OVO Energy will reward eligible customers with up to a year of free heating, worth over £340 in bill credit.

This offer is available from today, for customers who switch from gas boilers to heat pumps.

This initiative is part of OVO’s Beyond loyalty scheme, which allows customers to bank rewards for future green technology upgrades.

To participate, customers can simply sign up via the OVO Beyond app and start accruing heating credit.

The offer is designed to incentivise the adoption of heat pumps, as recent OVO polling found that only 16 per cent of customers were considering installing one. However, 62 per cent agreed they’d be more likely to make the switch if offered incentives like banked free heating days.

OVO’s Beyond loyalty scheme extends beyond heat pump incentives. It offers a range of rewards to support customers’ transition to greener living.

Customers can also benefit from 30 per cent off heating and plumbing repairs

Mat Moakes, Chief Commercial Officer at OVO, stated: “We know that not everyone is ready to make the switch now, so we’re offering extra support to bank rewards and save for the future.”

The programme, powered by Kaluza’s software platform, unlocks up to £1,000 in exclusive savings and discounts.

Standout offers include a discounted tadoo Smart Thermostat for £96 (RRP £199.99) and a free boiler service worth £84.

Customers can also benefit from 30 per cent off heating and plumbing repairs booked via the OVO app.

Additionally, OVO has partnered with brands like smol, Oddbox, and Uber Green to offer exclusive discounts of up to 35 per cent.

OVO Energy is also offering Energy Expert visits for just £15, a significant discount from the usual £100 cost.

These consultations provide a comprehensive at-home assessment and a Home Health Report with personalised recommendations for improving energy efficiency.

The company has introduced Power Move, a programme that rewards customers for shifting their energy usage to greener times of the day. Participants can receive up to an extra £10 off their bills each month, potentially saving up to £120 per year.

This initiative complements OVO’s recently announced £50million support fund for state pensioners who will lose their £300 Winter Fuel Payment this year.

The fund offers direct financial support, including free or subsidised upgrades like new boilers and heat pumps, alongside reductions in direct debit payments.

David Buttress, OVO’s Chief Executive, emphasised the company’s commitment to supporting customers through the colder months.

Buttress also advocated for a more sustainable approach, suggesting a social tariff for less affluent customers. He said: “We need to make the energy system work better for everyone.

“That starts with targeted support in the form of a social tariff so we’re not plugging the gaps no one can be, or no one needs to be left behind.”

This proposal comes as the Government has limited state Winter Fuel Payments to those on Pension Credit. Approximately 10 million individuals will miss out on this support in the coming months.

OVO’s initiatives aim to bridge this gap, offering various ways for customers to save on energy costs and transition to greener technologies.

The company’s multi-faceted approach includes immediate financial support, incentives for adopting heat pumps, and rewards for energy-efficient behaviours.

These efforts reflect OVO’s commitment to supporting customers through the cost-of-living crisis while promoting sustainable energy solutions.
